Consisting of just under 20 square miles, the Town of Blacksburg encompasses the feel of both a compact, bustling city as well as a quaint, quiet hometown. The most notable feature of Blacksburg is Virginia Tech, which is not only known for its impressive academic opportunities and achievements, but also its renowned athletic programs. Blacksburg is also home to wonderful outdoor sights and opportunities such as hiking on the Huckleberry Trail, The Cascades, a beautiful scenic waterfall, and the Whitethorn Boat Ramp, which quickly and conveniently allows access to recreation on the New River. In addition to the sports and outdoor activities, during the warm seasons Blacksburg is home to a terrific Farmer’s Market as well as two well attended street festivals, Steppin’ Out and the Summer Solstice festival. For those hoping to settle down in the area, Blacksburg also allows families access to multiple highly rated public schools as well as the ability to shop and eat locally at some of the towns locally owned clothing boutiques and restaurants. There isn’t much Blacksburg doesn’t have to offer it's residents!
